Author Guidelines
Overview
- The American Journal of Environmental & Earth Sciences (AJEES) upholds high standards for academic publishing and follows established guidelines for manuscript preparation, ethical compliance, and peer review.
- Authors are responsible for ensuring their submissions conform to the journal’s technical and ethical requirements before the review process begins.
- Non-compliant submissions may be returned to the authors for revision prior to editorial evaluation.
Manuscript Types
- Original Research Articles: In-depth studies presenting novel empirical, theoretical, or modeling-based findings relevant to environmental and earth sciences.
- Review Articles: Comprehensive evaluations of existing literature, highlighting knowledge gaps, research trends, and future directions.
- Short Communications: Brief but significant contributions including pilot studies, field observations, or methodological advancements.
- Case Studies: Applied research examining specific environmental problems, sustainability challenges, or disaster scenarios.
- Data Papers & Monitoring Reports: Well-documented datasets, monitoring series, and environmental metrics with contextual analysis.

Manuscript Format
- Language: Manuscripts must be written in academic English with clarity and precision.
- File Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX.
- Font & Spacing: Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced, 1-inch margins.
- Word Limits: Research Articles (5000–8000 words), Review Articles (7000–10,000 words), Short Communications (1500–3000 words).
- Figures & Tables: High-resolution images (minimum 300 DPI), accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, TIFF; tables must be editable.
- Placement: Embed figures and tables within the text where appropriate, with continuous numbering.
Abstract And Keywords
- Abstract: Summarize the study’s objectives, methodology, key results, and conclusions. Should not exceed 250 words.
- Keywords: Include 4–10 keywords that reflect the article’s content and facilitate indexing.
Citation And Referencing
- AJEES accepts both IEEE and APA referencing styles depending on disciplinary conventions.

Cover Letter
- Each submission must include a cover letter indicating:
- • The type of article submitted.
- • A brief statement on the importance and novelty of the study.
- • Confirmation that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.
- • Disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest.
- • (Optional) Suggestions for suitable peer reviewers.
Submission Process
- Submissions must be made through our online submission system.
- Steps:
- 1. Register or log in on the submission platform.
- 2. Fill out submission details including title, abstract, and authorship.
- 3. Upload manuscript, figures, tables, and any supplementary materials.
- 4. Verify compliance with the journal's format and ethics policy.
- 5. Submit and track progress via the author dashboard.
Peer Review Process
- AJEES employs a **double-blind peer review** process to ensure unbiased evaluations and academic rigor.
- Process:
- 1. Editorial Screening – Initial quality and scope check.
- 2. Reviewer Assignment – Manuscript sent to at least two independent experts.
- 3. Reviewer Reports – Feedback returned with recommendations: Accept, Minor/Major Revision, or Reject.
- 4. Revisions – Authors respond to comments and submit a revised manuscript.
- 5. Final Editorial Decision – Based on reviewer input and editor assessment.
- Total review duration: typically 4–6 weeks.
Publication Ethics
- Originality: Submitted manuscripts must be original and not under review elsewhere.
- Plagiarism Screening: All submissions are checked using plagiarism detection tools. Similarity over 20% may lead to rejection.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential financial or personal conflicts.
- Ethics Approval: Studies involving human or animal data must include ethical approval and comply with institutional guidelines.
Publication Charges
- AJEEES follows an Open Access model and charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) upon acceptance.

- • Low-Income Countries: $500
- Waivers and discounts may be granted on request during submission, particularly for authors from low-income countries or with limited funding.
