Author Guidelines
Overview
- The American Journal of Education & Instructional Science (AJEIS) maintains high academic and ethical standards for all manuscript submissions. Authors are expected to adhere to formatting, citation, and research integrity requirements.
- Submissions not conforming to these guidelines may be returned for revision prior to peer review.
Manuscript Types
- Original Research Articles: Empirical studies or theoretical contributions addressing core topics in education, pedagogy, or learning sciences.
- Review Articles: Systematic or narrative reviews that synthesize existing research and identify emerging trends or gaps.
- Practitioner Reports: Reports or reflections from educational practitioners detailing instructional strategies, innovations, or interventions.
- Case Studies: In-depth analysis of specific educational programs, classroom practices, or institutional reforms.
- Policy Briefs: Critical evaluations of education policies or curriculum frameworks with recommendations for improvement.

Manuscript Format
- Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear academic English.
- File Format: Submissions must be in Microsoft Word (.docx).
- Font & Spacing: Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced, 1-inch margins.
- Word Limits: Research Articles (5000–8000 words), Review Articles (7000–10,000 words), Practitioner Reports (2000–4000 words).
- Figures & Tables: High resolution (min. 300 DPI); accepted formats include JPEG, PNG, or TIFF. Tables must be in editable format.
- Placement: Embed figures and tables within the manuscript at appropriate locations.
Abstract And Keywords
- Abstract: A brief summary of the study's objectives, methods, findings, and practical implications. Should not exceed 250 words.
- Keywords: Provide 4–10 relevant keywords that capture the focus of the study.
Citation And Referencing
- AJEIS follows APA 7th Edition citation and referencing style.
- Example (APA): Brown, L. M. (2020). Strategies for inclusive classrooms. *Journal of Educational Practice*, 12(3), 45–58.
Cover Letter
- All submissions must include a cover letter containing:
- • Article type (e.g., Research, Review, Case Study).
- • A summary of the article’s significance.
- • Confirmation that the manuscript is not under review elsewhere.
- • Disclosure of any conflicts of interest.
- • (Optional) Suggestions for potential reviewers.
Submission Process
- Authors must submit their manuscripts via the online submission system.
- Steps:
- 1. Create or log in to your author account.
- 2. Complete the submission form with article metadata (title, abstract, authors).
- 3. Upload the manuscript and supplementary materials.
- 4. Confirm compliance with formatting and ethical policies.
- 5. Track manuscript progress via the author dashboard.
Peer Review Process
- All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.
- Process:
- 1. Editorial Screening – Initial check for format and scope alignment.
- 2. Reviewer Assignment – Two independent experts are assigned.
- 3. Review Feedback – Authors receive comments and a decision: Accept, Minor/Major Revision, or Reject.
- 4. Revision – Authors resubmit revised manuscripts with a response to reviewer comments.
- 5. Final Editorial Decision – Based on revised submission and reviewer feedback.
- Typical review duration: 4–6 weeks.
Publication Ethics
- Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.
- Plagiarism Check: All submissions are screened for plagiarism using professional software. Similarity above 20% may result in rejection.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any affiliations or financial interests that may influence the work.
- Ethical Research: Studies involving human subjects must include a statement of ethical approval and informed consent.
Publication Charges
- AJEIS follows an open-access model supported by an Article Processing Charge (APC) upon acceptance.
- APC Structure:

- • Middle-Income Countries: $1000
- • Low-Income Countries: $500
- Waivers and discounts may be granted to authors with limited funding. Requests must be submitted at the time of submission.
